The NHS Number (NUSS) is the number by which you are identified by Social Security. If you want to work in Spain or make use of public healthcare and social services, you need a NUSS.
Everyone who works or lives in Spain, including foreign residents, must have a NUSS to be part of the social security system.
Without a NUSS, it is difficult to fully participate in Spanish social life. You need a NUSS in various situations, for example:

- Work and payroll administration,
